Dear Supervisors Burke, Molina, Yaroslavsky:
I would like to extend an invitation to you as a group to send a speaker to speak at one or both informational meetings that we are sponsoring on Tuesday, December 14 at 7:30 PM and Saturday, December 18 at 2:00 PM. I am inviting one of you or one of
your employees to come and speak for up to ten (10) minutes. Please let me know no later than 1 pm on Friday, December 10, 2004 by calling (818)757-1776, if one of you or one of your employees can come.
I am making this invitation to all three of you but you will need to discuss it among yourselves which one of you, if any will be coming or sending an employee. This invitation is only for one of you to speak or to send one of your employees to
speak. You are all however invited to attend. I have also extended an invitation to Supervisor Michael Antonovich to speak because this meeting is being held in his district. I have sent you a copy of the invitation he was sent.
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Robert Colaco. I am the Volunteer National Chairman and Founder of Citizens For A Better America® with the acronym and website of [CFABA.ORG]. I began CFABA.ORG on
October 15, 1992 for the primary purpose of electing Morality and Values based candidates to public office from the very lowest to the very highest political positions all over the U.S.A. We are also involved in supporting and opposing ballot measures,
propositions, petition drives and recalls. We endorsed the recent successful recall of Governor Gray Davis early in the campaign on February 21, 2003. You can see our News Release by clicking on the following link: [http://www.cfaba.org/cf06022.htm].
We believed the removal of the little cross from the Los Angeles County Seal was so important that we added a question on our CFABA.ORG Candidate Questionnaire ™ which stated:
35. On June 1, 2004, Los Angeles County, California, the most populated county in the U.S.A., with almost ten million (10,000,000) residents, or more population than the entire population of forty two (42) states voted to remove the
little cross from their county seal. This was a three (3) to two (2) decision to negotiate with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) over its threat to sue unless a small cross is removed from the county seal, rather than to fight the threatened
lawsuit.
Zev Yaroslavsky one of the three (3) voting for removal said: "I don't personally believe that any religious symbol on any government seal is appropriate."
Do you believe that Christian religious symbols and names should be removed from city, county, state, federal government entities in the U.S.A.?
[ ] Yes, I do.
[XX ] No, I do not.
[ ] I Don't know.
If you would like to see the responses to our only endorsed candidate in California for the November 2nd, 2004 election you can click on the following link: [http://www.goodguyslist.org/USA/us01008.htm]. To see a list of all three (3) candidates endorsed nationwide in three states you can click on the following link: [http://www.goodguyslist.org/gg02003.htm].
We are calling the registered voters of Acton and Agua Dulce and inviting them to attend this meeting. We are also beginning a brand new website dedicated toward our efforts in this movement entitled: [http://KeeptheCross.com].
I spoke before the three of you and Supervisor Antonovich on June 15, 2004 to support Supervisor Michael Antonovich's resolution to allow the voters of Los Angeles County to have a vote as to whether their seal is to be changed and under these
circumstances. We would like one of you or the employee you send to address the following issues when you speak:
01. Why did you vote to cave into the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), when free legal assistance was being offered to the county to fight their threatened lawsuits.
02. Why when thousands of people showed up to your meeting on Tuesday, June 8, 2004 opposing your proposal to remove the little cross from the Los Angeles County seal, did you go ahead and vote to remove it anyway, instead of allowing more time for
community involvement on so controversial a decision.
03. When Supervisor Michael Antonovich introduced his motion to allow the voters of LA County to vote on this measure on Tuesday, June 15, 2004, why did you voted against it.
04. Why have you risked ten of thousands of dollars of taxpayers money by going ahead with the seal change when you are aware that there is a petition drive to keep the 1957 seal, and that it has until March 1, 2005 to obtain the necessary 341,212
signatures to end the efforts of changing the seal. Wouldn't it have been more prudent to wait until that drive had ended before spending taxpayer money on changing to the new seal.
Again, it is my hope the one of you or one of your employees are able to come and address our meeting and the registered voters that we are inviting to come. May God Bless You and your family during this Christmas season and may God Bless the County
of Los Angeles.
With All Sincerity,
Robert Colaco
